VETERANS HALL OF FAME

William K. Kastner,
a Vietnam veteran and
longtime director
of the Steuben County
 Veterans Service
 Agency, was recently
 inducted into the
 State Senate Veterans
 Hall of Fame.

Dear Friend,

Thank you for visiting the New York State Senate’s online Veterans Hall of Fame.

My colleagues and I are pleased to have this opportunity to honor the service of distinguished veterans from across New York State. It’s designed to honor New Yorkers whose service in the United States Armed Forces is accompanied by service to the community and accomplishments as a civilian.

From my legislative district, the state’s 53rd Senate District (comprised of Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben and Yates counties, and a portion of Tompkins County), the inaugural Veterans Hall of Fame honoree, in 2005, was the late Frank C. "Fritz" Pesesky. As you’ll see, Fritz is a well-known figure in Chemung County veterans’ affairs and longtime director of the county’s Veterans Service Office.

We have also paid tribute to the service of William K. Kastner of Steuben County, a Vietnam veteran and longtime director of the Steuben County Veterans Service Agency.

It’s a privilege to be able to honor the service of Fritz Pesesky and Bill Kastner in this way, and I’m looking forward to future opportunities to pay tribute to additional 53rd District veterans.
